WIP Wrap Up

This weekend, I finally got around to re-focusing on my stalled projects. The summer is always my most productive time because I’m no longer teaching and can dedicate myself whole heartedly to my projects.

As you can see, my chevron blanket has made some nice progress. I’m aiming to finish it in a week. A few weeks ago, I bought found some pretty wooden hearts and, today I painted them in some lovely pastels (Martha Stewart has the best color palette). I have in mind to make some cute hair pins with them. I also made an inventory of all my fabric . . . to my surprise, I’m way overstocked! From here on out, no more binge buying (cross my heart); I’m sewing only with what I have! Sue

Been so busy with so many little projects that I haven’t had time to breathe! It’s mainly due to a craft show that I had this past weekend (more on that later), but I’m also in the process of making a hefty shop update. Here are some snippets of some finished and unfinished projects I’ve got going.

Making some sweet cupcakes . . . lots of them!

my pretty fabric flower hair pins. I coffee-stained the labels!

These are some heart brooches in the works. I crackled the paint and really love how they came out.

I used Martha Stewart acrylics for my heart brooches and absolutely fell in love. The array of colors is amazing and they go on “like butter.” If you’re going to use acrylics, I highly recommend MS paints for your projects; they’re definitely worth the price!
I’ll be back with pics of my most recent craft show and peek of my shop update. Talk soon! Sue

My dining room table has been quite depressed for a long time, and I had always wanted to make some cute placemats to cheer it up but I hadn’t found the right fabric until a week ago! Here’s what I’ve done so far:

I’m in love with saucers and cups fabric and the eating utensils design is so yummy (pun intended!)

“Eat, drink, laugh.” That’s what getting together around a dinner table is about!

Once I’m finished with the embroidery, I plan to make a handmade border and bring it all together. I’ll post pics once they’re all sewn up. Sue

Today I woke up super early to tackle my 1st dressing-making project. After much prepping with the pattern, to my dismay, I didn’t have enough fabric for all my pieces (ahhh!). After getting over my disappointment, I focused my energy on working on my friend’s baby shower gifts.

Here’s a peek at my burp cloths. I added some embroidery to jazz it up a bit.

And here’s the update on my crocheted teddy bear. As you can see the body parts have been joined (except the legs – I ran out of yarn – yikes!). I’m still debating the bear’s nose; not sure if I’ll keep the felt nose or embroider it (any feedback??).

I thought it would be nice to monogram the A onto the teddy’s shirt. Hopefully my friend will like it too.
Well that’s about it for now! I’ll be back this Sunday with a new embroidery lesson! Talk soon, Sue
