I love this tattered bunny. I’ve had it for about 2 years now and it first resided on my bookcase and now keeps me company at my sewing desk. My infatuation with this bunny began during the first year my bf and I were together (we’re going on year 5 now!). He would always mention the little bunny he had as a baby. It was like a blankie, and he always went everywhere with it. After pestering him about it, his mother mailed him the bunny and once I saw it in person I realized how much it had been loved.
The yarn has unraveled in some parts, the stuffing is exposed on the back, and its arms are taped up but even with all the wear and tear, it’s a wonderful little keepsake. It certainly must hold many secrets of my bf’s childhood . . . if only you could talk bunny!
Many moons ago, I had mentioned to my bf how much I would love to replicate the bunny and make one some day for our own baby. Yesterday he surprised me with the how-to! Unbeknownst to me, he wrote to his mom and she was kind enough to send him the instructions. Of course, I’m beyond happy and can’t wait to hopefully, someday in the future, begin our own knitted bunny tradition! Are there any keepsakes you treasure, want to recreate, or wish to hand down? I’d love to hear from you! Sue
